To decide, individually compare the two equivalent cities from each group (i.e. London vs Paris, Cape Town vs Casablanca). The one with the most cities wins.

Group 1 (British):

London, UK
Cape Town, South Africa
Kolkata, India
Hong Kong, China
Sydney, Australia

Group 2 (French):

Paris, France
Casablanca, Morocco
Pondicherry, India
Hanoi, Vietnam
Montreal, Canada

London vs Paris, London just

Cape Town vs Casablanca, Casablanca

Kolkata vs Pondicherry, Pondicherry

Hong Kong vs Hanoi, Hong Kong

Sydney vs Montreal, Sydney

Britain: 3
France: 2

So I would choose group 1, the British cities

Group 1, though I have already visited 3 of the cities: London, HK and Sydney.

I agree, the English are really dull. And worse, they are frightening when they drink.
