A little off-topic but i've noticed the world forum seems to be have become the area where non-americans come to air their grievances or disdain for the US.
Why not post these topics or articles in any of the american forums? When a foreigner has a topic about canada or australia or the UK, Brazil etc. they post them in the forums for that country but not the US for some reason?

Not at all.. I received this in an email from the Lancet this morning and thought it was of interest.. I have nothing whatsover against the US....I had looked to find a place to put this thread...as I take a great interest in most things on here...

It seems to me that this is the correct forum for topics calling for a comparison of the USA to other countries. The OP cites specifically an article published outside the USA.

Yeah, I've noticed this too. Unfortunately, a lot of people seemed to be misinformed about the country and let their opinions be swayed too much either from what they have seen on TV or from weirdos on this forum even. I've seen a number of things expressed in this forum about the US that are pretty false. Now, I am not very patriotic, but I am someone who likes others to know as close to the truth as possible about anything and not go on being ignorant about a topic.
Studies like this are misleading because they don't take into account that the U.S. has a much higher percentage of ethnic minorities compared to other developed nations. Black and Hispanic Americans skew the numbers lower for Americans as a whole, and the reasons for their poorer health statistics compared to white Americans are not completely clear.

Black and Hispanic Americans are Americans..... lol
I don't think you read what he said correctly. He was pointing out two groups of Americans which can skew numbers in certain areas sometimes.
They don't skew numbers, we are Americans just because my grand parents are from another country doesnt mean i'm not American, why are we being put into different groups?

This has nothing to do with where your grandparents come from. Learn more about statistics, demographics, and general scientific method/research methods before you say something like this. Honesetly. When you try and find reasons for why certain things are certain ways, you break down your data into smaller groups in hopes of finding patterns within the data. It's basic research and statistics, and science for that matter. You can't find GOOD cause and effect by looking at summarized data.
For example, when summarized data says "The unemployment percentage for America is 8.7%" there are ways to find out why that is, and if there are certain groups, for example, that are skewing the numbers one way or another. Putting people into even racial groups like this is nothing new. This has been done in research forever and there's nothing un PC about it. The un PC thing comes in how you interpret that data.
