Sorry if this poll has been done before... I'm still fairly new here.
So, who here has significant international experience?
By "another country" I mean a country other than the one that you consider your 'native' country, i.e. the one in which you were born and/or raised (for example, if you're an American who was born in Germany to American parents but moved back to the States at a very young age and grew up there, your 'native' country is the US).
And by "lived" I mean for a year or more. Long vacations don't count, but schooling does.
I have lived in a few other countries for different lengths of time. Some of these countries I was taken to as a child (so it wasn't my decision to go there) and others I went to as adult. Living in other cultures always expands one's horizons.

I had to put down "Yes, in the military" only because there were no other options. Although, I have lived overseas as military (active duty and dependent), I have also lived in other countries as a civilian with a work visa as well.

I've lived in four countries for a year or longer, and one country for under a year.
I think living abroad definitely helps people gain perspective on themselves, their 'motherland', and the state of the world. I would recommend trying to live abroad for most everyone.

This. In my case it has only happened once (for 4 years) but living abroad helps one's understanding of one's home country as much as the host country.
Nope, only visited. I don't think I'd want to live in a country outside the US but I'm always up for traveling.
