It seems like the guy is just on good terms with his boss. It's not like he's saying "Oh yeah the boss said this and we did that and oh it was so fun riding the paddleboat with him this past weekend, wish you guys coulda come!" (at least that's the impression that I get)

Nothing wrong with being on the good side of the guy who can fire or promote you. As they say, it's often who you know.

Taking into consideration ALL the posts I have ready of yours...have you not sorted out yet that your not really rowing with both oars in the water??

That is going to draw scorn from people around you, whether its in your work life or on the ever treacherous dating scene.

I was in the workforce for 44 years before retiring.
Seen all kinds.

The fellow employees I admired most were those who earned their paycheckthru good, honest work and didn't feel the need to " suck up" to the boss.

It's been my observation that the employees who truly stand out by "sucking up" to the boss are not that great of producers and use the "sucking up" in hopes of hiding it or compensating for it.

They might assure you they are the best workers.
Heck, they might even start a thread on a posting forum to convice others.

Or people are just flat out selfish, petty, and trivial. That seems more common and realistic.
