Learning a second language as an adult? (Spanish)

Personally, I think that's never a waste to learn another language, especially one as prevalent in the US as Spanish. One thing is for certain, the Hispanic population in the US is fast-growing (esp where I live--in CA), and the demand for multi-lingual people is only getting stronger. At the moment I don't work in something where I "need" to learn the language, but, IMHO it may open up things for me that I don't have at the moment being monolingual.

I saw an article on "older" adults learning language.
It builds brain synapses. Even if you never us it other
than to pronounce foreign words better, it helps you
with other cognitive functions.

Use it or lose it.

I totally agree. I was going to say this also, but I forgot
because I haven't been studying hard enough lately and
my synapses are getting "funky." My cognitive functions
