I already hated her as it was, she loved to yell, scream, rant etc. but of course management thinks psychotic people make the best bosses.

I honestly don't care about burning bridges with that psycho. I do have savings and I am sure I can find something.

Heck, when I told her I was pregnant she acted as if it was going to be some huge burden and was nasty about that!
Why are you upset and crying? I thought it made you "feel good" to walk out like you did?

Truth is that most in the C-suite care about people who can get things done. You and this lady might not fit, but you need to learn to deal with people like her better. In life, these people will always be around us. If they get things done but lack some interpersonal skills, they might get a management job. Or what comes off as phychotic to you might be someone simply doing their job and too busy to be empathetic to your "world". Lots of things...

My uncle did the same types of thing you did over the course of his life. He retired at a lower level than he should just to prove a point. He is dead and his wife is still impacted by that decision... 15 years later.

Yea we had a really nasty case here in Chicago. A principal decided to poorly rate and fire any teacher that got pregnant. The Feds brought suit for the class and CPS had to settle.

Excellent points.

Indeed, if the OP was truly happy when she told off her boss with expletives and quit on the spot (as she claimed in her first post), then why has she subsequently been upset and crying a lot? Wasn't the purpose of telling her boss off to get it off her chest, prove a point, and start anew elsewhere without looking back?

That just goes to show that her impulsive act truly didn't make her happy as she claims, and wasn't even worth it at this point. Not only did it not accomplish anything, but it could potentially affect her in the future.

Just negates the whole concept of telling off a boss and then quitting as per the OP's 'principles' (and others who support her). Not trying to be mean spirited towards the OP, but things like these are nothing to be taken lightly.

Agreed. There's a common message embedded in this thread - losing your cool will not do you any favors. Exercising restraint when dealing with unprofessional co-workers and bosses will always put you in an advantageous position. Objectivity should overrule emotion in a professional setting. When a company wants to fire or lay you off, there's NO emotion on their part either. It's just business.

Yep. Once. It felt pretty good to tell this person just where he could stick it, too!

Yep. I told Squalmart basically to go **** itself. This was only after nearly 3 years of management coddling sucktomers that verbally abused me. I was always on a slow burn about that because nothing ever changed. It didn't matter WHAT the sucktomers did or said to the employees, the managers never had your back.
The last straw was when they fired my mother (who has credentials as a computer programmer for 34+ years and was only working there out of desperation after her job was given to the Indian replacement she trained) for ONE customer complaint in 3 years of service.

More then once she came to the bakery where I was working, in tears because of customers treating her like spit.

When she came over to tell me they fired her because of one Grade A b****, I'd had enough. I threw off my apron, went to the managers office and told them off and walked out.

For a brief second, I thought maybe there is something but remembered that she was a quitter which negates any wrongful termination, discrimination, or ADA complaint. Imagine the stink has she just went along with the program, got terminated and WHAM threw the pregnant card in their face. Now that would have felt good. But alas, the quit threw that potential lottery ticket in the trash. And, I'm sure the boss and company and replacement are all really broken up over this crying over her quitting... Yeah, Right!

Yes, and in front of customers. I had just come into the store with a load of stock I had picked up (on my own time) and the store manager told me I had to go take a 3rd lie detector test. Someone had been stealing from the floor safe, who turned out to be the manager's girlfriend.

Anyway, the next day I went back to my old job with no notice. I just showed up and started working. My manager just said "you're back, cool". I was told when I left that I was welcome back at any time with no explanations.

This isn't even a joke; take this advice. Get yourself to a lawyer and watch your old company squirm.
