This is a strange predicament you're in, I could easily drive up to any home depot / lowes around here yell "I HAVE A JOB, $20 PER HOUR 5-8 HOURS!" and I would get at least 5 people come running......

Rent some equipment to do it yourself. How wide is the path to the backyard? Can a tractor go there?

Do you know that if you hire someone to do work on your property who isn't licensed, bonded and insured your homeowners insurance policy won't cover it if said worker gets injured? And don't think that an illegal alien won't sue you. There are plenty of advocacy groups out there who would be more than glad to help them.

It amazes me that people who never would pick up a hitchhiker think nothing about picking up total strangers and bring them to their home to do work.

Look, you want the job done properly, just hire a company that is licensed, bonded and insured. There are lots of handyman companies that might well do the job for you.

Yes, it's amazing some times how people try to save pennies and losing millions. This guy is not insured and easily can get hurt and sue OP for really crazy sums, and OP can end losing his house for trying to be smart*ss .

There are parts of this country where this scenario plays out everyday.. It may or may not have started in Mexico where day laborers stand in a line at a particular location everyday and wait for a job offer.. when its done here 99.99% are Illegal. Thats just how it is..None of these workers pay any taxes on income and as you see that income CAN BE Substantial. many make $40K - $100K a year..

I've had similar problems. I try to get a contractor out to replace some rotten wood on my house and 3/4 don't show the rest quote me $500 for 20 minutes of work. I was looking for a contractor to blow some insulation into my attic last winter and couldn't get anyone to show up so went off to Home Depot and rented the equipment and did it myself for a little under $200. If you want something done right (and at a fair price)....

Claim made here: illegal immigrants don't pay taxes. "None" of them.
True or false?

From the American Immigration Council:
Top Ten Myths about Immigration
  1. Immigrants don't pay taxes.
Immigrants pay taxes, in the form of income, property, sales, and taxes at the federal and state level. As far as income tax payments go, sources vary in their accounts, but a range of studies find that immigrants pay between $90 and $140 billion a year in federal, state, and local taxes. Undocumented immigrants pay income taxes as well, as evidenced by the Social Security Administration's "suspense file" (taxes that cannot be matched to workers' names and social security numbers), which grew by $20 billion between 1990 and 1998.
Top 10 Myths About Immigration | Immigration Policy Center
From the Fiscal Times:
The 50-state analysis by the Institute on Taxation and Economic Policy released on Thursday found that roughly 8.1 million of 11.4 million undocumented immigrants who work paid more than $11.8 billion in state and local taxes in 2012, even while they were living illegally in the country.
