Some things to consider:

This may or may not be reflective of the entire forum, but if you look at the first two pages of threads you'll find about 25% of the questions involve job interviews. I'm not sure that would be enough to warrant breaking them out.

Threads will be posted to the wrong forum on an ongoing basis and it may be difficult to even draw a clear line as to when something goes in one forum versus the other.

People are constantly resurrecting old threads by posting to them. Will this then require a moderator to move that thread to the proper forum if they're broken out?

And personally, I think the job interview threads are a nice respite from some of the things we see posted here.

My two cents.

I would think it would be a good idea, as I would appreciate a forum for "before having a job" and "after having a job."

I can see MPowering's points, but I agree with aneye4detail. I know most of my posts here are related to job interviews - so it would be nice to have a "before having a job" and an "after having a job" section.

We should have 3 forums:

Job Hunting
Employed
Unemployment Insurance

Or something along these lines.

Please, make it a separate forum. I check "Work and Employment" occasionally, hoping to find discussions of the workplace--what's professional and not professional, ethics in the workplace, communication around supervision & feedback, employment-related laws, career fields, etc. But instead it's mostly people talking about their horrible job interviews or how they are unemployed and it's the fault of horrible employers and hiring managers.

It would be great if both "job interviews" and "Why I hate hiring managers" could be carved out, then the rest of us who have jobs could actually discuss workplace situations.

The Unemployment forum here is probably 100% about Unemployment Insurance, so that's covered. Check it out if you haven't been there. It makes for some interesting reading and Rabrrita is one of three regular posters who are considered experts there.

I think Mr_Geek has made a much better suggestion - that Job Hunting be separate from Employed and Working.

That I would vote yes for. It makes much more sense and the lines would not be blurred.

Administrator, would you be open to that?

Another thumbs up to Mr. Geek. A Job Interview sub-forum is too narrowly focused.

If people have questions about job interviews, there will be other questions about job hunting such as resumes, job posts, etc. A "Job Hunting" sub-forum would check off everything on the list.

How about forums for "the job hunt" (looking for a job) and "on the job" (job issues.)

I voted no because for me, a job interview thread would die once they get a job. It's fairly short lived since it ends a little after the interview occurs once they get the wrap up on it. Doesn't seem to warrant an entire sub-section for what is essentially a Q&A on one aspect of the being employed
