Nope What I do is much, much better than what my 'dream jobs' have been. I periodically thank whatever forces there are in the universe that I have never gotten that dream job. I'd have been miserable. My view of what I thought I wanted, and my knowledge of myself did not always align..

Ummmmm, maybe?

I am not sure what a dream job might be. I like my job, I like most of the people I work with, I am decently compensated and have good benefits. Work hours are fine, and I am doing something that I like and I feel that I am making a positive impact on the world. I am not sure what I would rather do for work.

Would I be doing this job if somebody dropped a truck of money on me? Probably not.

My dream job is to get paid to drink beer and post on forums lol

I don't think a dream job exists. Unless you count a job you can tolerate the most? We are all slaving away for the almighty dollar.

No, but my dream job is to be paid for doing nothing, because I am incredibly lazy. My current job is probably as close to that as I'll ever get while still making a nice living, so I'm pretty content. I'm a casino dealer. For 40 hours a week I play cards and babysit adults, basically. I have no management responsibility unlike most of my previous jobs, no real stress other than dealing with people who think you are the scum of the earth when they lose, and once I'm done with my 8 hour shift I clock out and go home. I pull an average of $75k a year after taxes, and I know pretty much no other job will make me that much and be as "easy." Do it long enough though and it will definitely make you dislike people, if you didn't already. You need a thick skin to handle the things people say when they don't win, and you better not make mistakes.

Dream job? Sure.

It largely depends on three things:

1. You are working on solving a problem that is both challenging and interesting,

2. you have autonomy, i.e. you get to determine how you solve the problem and how much time you need, and finally,

3. you receive rewards and recognition for your results.

My current position meets all three. I am very happy, unstressed, and well compensated. I really can't believe they pay me for having so much fun.

Have you ever wondered why guys like Bill Gates or Warren Buffet still work? It's because they hit those 3 buttons.

LOL. OP, it's your dream job because you haven't started it yet. It's clear you are happy to have the job and are excited and that makes me happy for you. Congratulations, and I sincerely hope that things turn out as awesome as you are excited.

I'm fine with my job but my dream job is to make $5mil/year as a professional human.

I was there awhile ago. My last job was my dream job and I would have stayed there until retirement, but I got burned by politics and was asked to resign. I knew it was my dream job because there was a great deal of autonomy. I was allowed to do the work I needed to do without any real micromanagement. My opinions were respected by my superiors and they stood behind me as much as they could. I was able to make changes in my city that benefitted many people, even if they didn't know who did it and weren't always happy about it.

Now, let's just say I love what I do, just not necessarily where I'm doing it.

The good thing about having already had my dream job is that I kinda know what I'm looking for going forward. It has allowed me to focus on that aspect as I look for my next dream job.

Work from home full time for a salary and love the type of work I do. The only thing I could ask for is a higher salary, but it's sufficient. I feel like I could do better and opportunity the climb the ladder may be wasted, but I also know it would have to be with a lot more effort. Others have suggested freelancing on the side with the free time I have but that earnings per hour would not be worthwhile compared to what I have now.

Being here has allowed me to save a lot in terms of daycare and taking days off, so there's that compensation.
