yes it does, normally the front end people would call for us to get carts but they haven't been doing that lately because no one else would bother to do it.

You sound like Chum Lee at the pawn shop on Pawn Stars.

Back when everyone smoked (but not indoors), there would be fights to see who got to go collect the carts or sweep up the parking lot!

Most of the employees I work with never seem to bother going outside to get carts.

Unless part of your pay is in sales commissions, you have nothing to complain about.

I worked at grocery store and I would volunteer to go get carts whenever there were girls who were expected to perform the job. I enjoyed the exercise and being outside when it was nice out plus I could haul in a bunch at a time. Once my manager approached me asking me to get the lot cleared in 15 mins. She received word that the General Manager was visiting and the lot was a mess. I got an extra 15 minute break for that one!

Anyway, the point is to enjoy all duties of your job. If you don't, then you should be looking elsewhere. Believe it or not I work a corporate job now and I would LOVE to have an opportunity to go collect carts every now and then!

You are an employee. The boss is your boss. Bosses do not have to be rational or fair. Get your coat and go fetch the carts when your boss tells you to. Or refuse and see what that gets you.
