Why do the most incompetent people get promoted?

Ive seen this very thing happen more times than I can even remember. Morons promoting their dip*&%$ buddies & or their moron family members into bossing positions. In the end, it always blows up in their faces. We have an old saying, " The best way to &%$@ your moron boss is, to just do exactly what he tells you to do." All the imbeciles end up hanging themselves w/ their own rope, in a short span of time. It NEVER fails.

I wouldn't say the wrong people get the job most of the time. Where I have worked if you are a poor manager you are weeded out quickly. Compared to smaller companies we have better expectations and regulations as an F500. I've seen some truly horrible promotions at smaller to mid-sized firms in my days, and yes, nepotism reigns king there (one of the reasons I got out).
