I normally do not count my high school years..but I did take a job at a Muskoka Resort , Ontario Canada ( "Clevelands House") for 3+ months..made 25 cents/ hour plus housing, meals and tips...It was a wonderful experience++++ Didn't get rich financially but gained so much understanding on how to live in a residence, dealing with customer's (some very flakey) and learn the way to deal with adversity etc....Life Lesson's for sure!!
But after graduation from Nursing and started working professionally....Ranged from 3 years to 15 years incorporating upgradings and credentialing courses....I regret nothing..I learned a lot about myself and other's all the while raising kids without a responsible spouse..SMH
Starting wage back then was $1.75 per hour with minimal benefits..and upon retirement after 45 years..self employed consultant @ 35.00 per hour and NO benefits ( but a lot of write-offs)..So I can say..I loved my job ( profession) and feel blessed to thru thick and thin..made a difference !
I feel so bad for folks who are forced to work in any venue that doesn't appeal to their hearts and minds..It's all about income..unfortunately too many with special talents are forced to work in a field unsuited..only because of environment/economy of the times...My heart goes to everyone who is forced to work hard and lots of hours and never feel satisfaction..except to pay the bills...SAD!!
