Only in the sense that I'd be looking for a new position. But I would never have taken an offer at a start-up if I did not think that there was a reasonable possibility that the company could succeed and that I could benefit as a result.

It depends on what the company does, where they are at and where you are at. In my case, we had a core team of about a dozen people doing the same job that, at a much larger company, is typically handled with a number of departments each having a small piece of the overall task. We did what it took to get things done - we were quite productive. And if we hadn't worked the way that we did, we probably would have failed and all been out on the street without a job and worthless stock options.

We only get 30 minutes for lunch. That's not a lot of time if you have to go get lunch, fighting traffic, waiting in line at the drive-thru. When do you have time to eat it. We all bring lunch and eat at our desks.

You are foolish if you are doing that. Never work too hard or be overly dedicated because the truth is, no one cares anyways.

We will see when its time for promotions and leadership roles once the company becomes more mature and we will see who is let go and easily replaced by better talent.

Better talent yes, but working hard and working smart are two different things. Not all people who sit at their workstations for 10-12 hours and don't take lunches are productive.

Generally you don't last long at start ups if you're not. The places are too small and everyone has skin in the game and they don't tolerate people just skirting by.

Personally I don't want to spend a big part of my life at work so I get the complaint. Yet, as a brand new employee who probably don't know all the ins and outs of a company, isn't it just a bit presumptuous to assume you know better than everyone how things should be done?
