Agreed with the others, some jobs like when you present ways to improve, other's don't. OP unfortunately found one that didn't. I also had one as well. I had others who appreciated how I streamlined processes.
I took one job where the person whose place I took over was terribly disorganized, she didn't even have her inventory organized, ordered more things than needed, HID things that she ordered incorrectly, etc.
When I got hired they told me there was so much work they were going to hire a second person. I asked them to give me a few months before they did that.
I turned that whole department around to the point where my job didn't even need one person to do it. I left that job after about 3 years for bigger and better things and my old boss will still sing my praises to this day if anyone ever contacts him for a reference.
The other job I had before that? Not so much, the manager who came in knew I had applied for her job and had it in for me from day one. I continued to work hard, put in 12 hour days, etc. I made a few suggestions on how to streamline a few things and she flat out told me "I'm the manager, you do what I say" and at that point I just kept my mouth shut and did my work until I left a few months later.
