I find myself at another crossroad in life.
This may be the most difficult yet. I will
do my best to describe without being pessimistic.
I am looking for the optimism in my dilemma.

I'm 56. Gender: male - Caucasian.
Now unemployed, divorced and homeless.
I've no family to turn to. Friends are fleeting.
Developing relationships is out of the equation.

I'm here alone, having to start a new life,
all I have are the clothes on my back, this laptop,
$2k and maybe a good 10 years of health.
A strong desire to go...

Go where?
Where is it possible for me to start over with
limited, very limited resources?

I'm a chef. Getting employment somewhere is not usually an issue.
I'm also aware that there're rooming houses & motels I can afford at the moment.
Possible expenditure for travel.

Suggestions for places with steady tourism and /or year round cultural attractions,
would be a major plus. Some employers (resorts, casino, hotels, etc.) have company housing
or I'd muddle through for affordable housing.

Please don't advise me on social services, missions,
churches, pantries, clinics, shelters or organizations.
I'm not looking for or wanting a "Hand out".

I want a place to stand on my own two feet.

Can you head south to Fl, Orlando region? That would be my suggestion. Plenty of restaurants, theme parks, etc. What about looking at working in a nursing home or assisted living facility in their kitchens. There are also cruise ships that could be an option as well.

Well, why not come to Vegas? This city has so many restaurants I would think you could find work. I just moved here about 6 months ago from California and I'm loving it here. Take a look at the Las Vegas forum here and start asking questions the locals can help you with. There is a website called airbnb dot com. People there offer rooms in their homes on a temporary basis at very reasonable rates. You can see the profiles of them and photos of their homes. Check it out!

You know, I think that if you can manage to keep an open mind and not surrender to negativity, things will manifest for you. Be a person that others will want to get to know. Be as upbeat as you can. I know it's tough sometimes, but the alternative is worse.
