I got an email from a recruiter asking me to forward my resume because it wasn't there in my application. I replied with something like,

"Hi X,

Please see attached for my resume. I have very strong X skills with X background ....and" etc.

Would you say it's overselling and coming across unnatural to immediately jump into talking about my strengths like the above?

Well it rather depends how long those etcs were! It's usually better in this sort of situation to just do what the recruiter asks for with a short, "As requested, I'm attaching my resumé and look forward to hearing from you."

It was 4 sentences total in the email which is not too long right? I directly addressed what the position was looking for: passion for a certain industry and having skills in X.

1st line - Please see attached for my resume
2nd line - "I have very strong X skills with X background to be successful in this position"
3rd line - Talked about being passionate in the certain industry through my past choices/employers
4th line - Thank you/looking forward to hearing back

It was entirely appropriate and was not overselling. Really.
