Anyone have this? If so, how did you prepare?

I don't have any of the contact hours, so I need to find a way. I'll be checking for online courses and with local community colleges. (since they are cheap because they are socialist and receive heavy State aid)

I got my PMP at a former employer in around 2007. They brought the classes in-house and 12 of us prepared at a time (rotation across the affiliates). Management guided us in putting together the required portfolio.

See if your employer will fund preparation.

Well I have my PMP, and got it without any employer subsidy.

This is their Agile Certified Practitioner, a much more advanced accreditation.

Yes, but you're looking at tax payer subsidy. Since cheapness is one of your attributes, an employer funding you might meet your needs better since they are happy to invest in their good employees. That is why I brought it up.

I've looked at the Agile Certified Practitioner. I would just need the contact hours and exam. But it doesn't make sense for me as I already have credentials that supersede it. It's good for someone looking to embellish their resume, but there's better training available for those wanting to learn. Stanford has a good program.

LOL, OK NJBest.

What are these credentials that supersede it?

I've already mentioned one of them. Steve Blank @ Stanford. He also teaches out of Columbia.

It appears that he's not a credential, but a prof.

I'd like to know what credentials supersede mine, so I can work toward them instead.

Well, it's clear that if you buy into all this PMI stuff that corporate management pushes into industries (along with six simga in non-manufacturing industries), you're already lost and and working towards climbing an imaginative ladder. If you want a meaningless job at a large company, these will help you get it. If you want a meaningful purpose in your industry, you would be better off focusing on learning rather than propping your resume up with these embellishments.

It all comes down to your goal. I already played the game of corporate ladders. I climbed to being a senior director at a big pharma company off of these "credentials". After locking in my pension, I decided to shift my goals. Now the only thing that matters is what I know and the big name university on my resume that opens discussions. These little silly certs are meaningless.

That being said, best of luck to you.

Oh I see. So you don't actually already have credentials that supersede it.

Why did you say you did then NJBest? I now doubt you have the PMP. Care to post your number?

Credentials are not a game, unless you'd failed the exams. Those who practice in certain fields must be investigated by the accrediting organization to be sure they have the years of experience and the technical knowledge to pass the rigorous exams. To denigrate accreditations, when they are required for jobs I'm pursuing and are at the level of the bar exam, is disingenuous.

Maybe your purpose here was to try and make yourself look important, but nobody cares NJBest. I am just looking for facts about getting this cert. If anyone has it, I'd like their input.

I generally don't give out personal information here. I've already said that I didn't go for any more PMI cert because I already have credentials that supersede it. You should learn to read what I wrote. You don't need to believe me. It doesn't impact me one bit.

I've already suggested a good route for you to pursue your goal. Work with your employer that will be happy to invest in you. It's no better or worse than your community college router, other than being more cost-effective.
