Hello, I have a question regarding the training I receive at my workplace (a golf course). My boss sent me a slideshow with information in it. The slideshow was very very poorly done, in mentioned things that we don't even have available to us that we need to use (ex. face protection, containers for broken glass, chemical spill containers etc.), it had tons of spelling mistakes. Now my boss gave me a sheet that has all of these boxes for me to sign saying I have the training. One the boxes he told me to sign says"First Aid Certification" and another one "WHMIS Certification". Many of the boxes weren't even talked about in the slideshow. He told me to sign all of the boxes. I returned the sheet with the boxes I actually have proper training signed. He called to say I need to sign all of the boxes next time I'm at work.
Does this slide show actually count as training?
Don't need a certificate to say you have First Aid Certification and WHMIS?
What do I say to him?
Sorry if this is confusing!
Thanks a lot, Adam

Yes, don't sign anything saying you are certified as anything unless you have the certificate. They can use it against you later and fire you for lying or falsifying records. someone gets hurt and you can't help, you become liable. ask for proper training in each of the fields and until you receive it, don't sign anything. sure, a box can be checked if its already got your signature on it, but if you can get it back make a copy before you give it to him. keep yours for backup. I wouldn't sign those things though.
While this may techanically count as "training," it certainly does NOT count as first-aid training or anything else that has a legal definition and requirements attached to it!
Do not sign anything that claims you've received such training - you could get in trouble for doing so, and your boss should be appalled for trying to skimp on vital training and then lie about it.
