Take the permanent job, they're virtually impossible to get these days.

It's pretty common for companies to pay higher hourly wages for temp workers compared to full-time, regular workers.

Also, take the perm job.

Another vote for taking the perm job. Give your agency notice. If the company you are temping at wants to hire you now, they will make an offer.

In your shoes, I'd go with the permanent job, for all the reasons others have already said. Good luck!

Take the perm job. The best the temp job becomes is what the perm job offer ALREADY is.

Gotta go with the consensus. I worked two temp to perm jobs a few years back and even though they liked me and I did good work, at the end they did not hire me permanently. Also temp jobs are usually for less money than perm positions. Take the job that really wants you.

Unless these people have been involved in C2H, they have no business positing.

I just completed a C2H position and was offered the permanent position. This is what you have to consider: If they didn't intend on hiring you, they would just make you contract. The reason why companies do this is so that they can "test out" employees before making a long commitment. If you're a good worker, you'll be brought on permanently, if you aren't you'll separate at the end of your contract - If you are a W2 employee you can still get unemployment, if you are hired on a 1099, you'll have the benefit of the self-employment tax, but no unemployment.
Think about this: The permanent position can terminate you at any time too.

Go with whichever sounds better to you. If been there, done that, I personally prefer contracting because I'll make $80k per year contracting vs. $55k per year as a direct hire.

Exclamation Ok....it's getting thicker and more confusing

The Contract to Hire Company has had meeting with me yesterday and
last week. The VP of Operations as well as the President of the Company has both asked me to reconsider and stay! They have expressed that they are very pleased with my work and that they have heard nothing but positive things about me. They would like to offer me a position of "Purchasing Manager" at 65k. In order for the workload to change, they need to bring on a part-timer to do the clerical work or my job will pretty much be the same-just paper pushing. The President has agreed to do this.

The NEW job sent me a job description last Friday as I never got one here either. I saw at the bottom of the posting 'Compensation 70k"...and I took the job at 62k. Totally lowballed myself obviously. I know that since I have signed the offer, I can't renegotiate. I am going from a manufacturing environment to a Corporate small office.

I don't know what to do. It's a choice now between 65k, and 1 hour commute each way, but i will get benefits right away and be eligible for
401k in October. New Job (I start in a week & 1/2) won't be eligible
for benefits for 90 days and 1 yr & 1 month till I am eligible for 401k.

They overwork everyone where I am at because they are on the cheap side.
They are having their best years yet since purchasing another company but don't want to hire more people to take on the extra work.

New company is doing very well too. They are a distributor with 8 branches, opening up 2 more in the near future and I will be the only one doing my job.

Not sure what to do!?!? I am literally torn! I just want to have some hope for advancement within the company and just be happy!!! I want to go to a job I like, people I like. Any one out there that thinks my decision to take the new job is still the right one?
