Just walk out. You do not owe these people anything. They do not care about you, nor should you care about them. I would only do this if you have some savings allowing you to sleep til noon and hang out in diners all day drinking coffee and reading the paper or a lap top.

I sent an e mail to my last boss, which he did not even acknowledge. There was bad blood. I stayed a month, he never even talked to me. Needless to say, there was no farewell party for me.

I would tell your boss in person next time you go in (assuming you work in the same office as your boss every day)

The reason that we give notice is that we might need a recommendation from this company or office in the future. What happens if the new job doesn’t work out? You could have a very short period of employment with the new boss and you could either need your old job back or a good recommendation from your past employer.

I always gave fair notice and gave the speech about what a pleasure it was to work for the old company. I have always had great recommendations from my past employers. My new employers told me on two occasions that the glowing recommendations were the reason they hired me.

By the way; I worked for a company that had one employee that ripped up an important document when she quit. Her old boss took the time to call her new boss and told him what she did. She was left go from her new job shortly afterwards. I am just saying to be careful not to suffer from hoof and mouth disease.

DoOn't you have HR? I would give it to HR, that is what you are supposed to do.

I'm going to give it to my boss tomorrow early morning...I"m going to come in an hour early before anyone else gets there.

As much as I would like to believe that just walking out is OK, I don't feel it's the right thing to do. My boss didn't do anything to me and neither did the company. I'm moving on for various personal reasons unrelated to the job.

That is just brilliant advice. Ever hear of a reference?

Ever hear of people who decide to return to their old company because they realize they made a mistake.

Can't do that if you leave them in the lurch.

Ummmm, ever hear of "don't burn your bridges".
