You're being VERY NOSY.

Worry about yourself at work and not others.

You're a s**t stirrer, plain and simple.

Absolutely and no apologies. I will search any person/company that has contact with me or my family or access to any of my personal information. Heck, I even searched the local barmaid and found out she's a thief (credit card and bad checks)--needless to say, she gets cash only. And I would've appreciated it if her manager had done it before he allowed her access to customer info.

The only people who have an issue with it are the ones with something to hide.

Yea, no kidding. I tried to look briefly at the court websites, and there was no mention of publicly searching records.

What exactly could a barmaid do to you if you paid by credit card? Not much.

There is a big difference between researching the guy who is going to put a new roof on your house, or a nanny you're hiring to watch kids vs. being concerned about the private lives of coworkers.

Clearly the OP likes to stir the pot, every office has one.

I never went around checking out what kind of cars coworkers drove. Unless I happened to see them in the parking structure I wouldn't know or care what they drove.

A coworker isn't accessing your credit card.

This is just a case of being nosy. It can also lead to finding yourself out of job, if you start talking about people at work.

Your post is bizarre to say the least and reeks of paranoia. You checked on the local barmaid? Why? What "customer info" does a barmaid have access to? Your credit card? If you think that's the case then your information is very outdated. Credit card transactions are no longer logged into the system with the complete CC number, only the first few digits. There is no way a barmaid can possibly access any personal information from your credit card.

So because you are suspiciously paranoid you pay her cash only. If she's still a thief, your giving her cash makes it easier for her to steal. Duh. A savvy bar owner knows what's going on in his or her establishment. Checks and balances are crucial and if he or she hired someone with a shady background then maybe it's because that person messed up a long time ago but has done a turnaround. That does happen.

I've been in this business for 15 years now as an owner/operator and am about to retire from it but your hypothesis is, with all due respect, completely and utterly ridiculous. Good grief!
