Well everything is self-taught. I would suggest if you need money you just get a job doing anything you can do. Other than that any kind of marketing or sales can be learned quickly, you may find it isn't for you however, but you wouldn't know til you tried.
Programming isn't for everyone, it is heavily outsourced and you need serious proficiency. Html isn't really programming.
Insurance is a big field that you don't need much to get into. Any kind of niche market stuff can do well, but if you aren't the kind who can run a bus, probably a waste of time.
I wouldn't get distracted trying to go learn some high demand skill and then make money. I would just assess what you can and are willing to do and go do it.

yeah, you are right. i am running a business now, but i want to make some big changes which will take more money and i will be making less for a while. i kind of just want to get a crap job to get by while i do this, but i haven't worked for anyone in more than 5 years and haven't looked for a job in such a bad job market.
i used to be able to at least go to a temp agency and have a job in a week, then get promoted in a couple months. now i am worried it won't be possible. i don't even care if the job pays $10/hr, becuase I won't feel that i am in a dead end career. once the new business gets off the ground, i'm pretty confident i can make much much more.
If you like maps and computers GIS is a good field. Any company or agency that uses spatial data probably uses a GIS.
Most use ArcGIS, which is expensive for an individual user. If you want to try to learn GIS on your own download MapWindows GIS for free. It works similiar to ArcGIS. You can download shapefiles and geotiffs from all over the place.
Knowing GIS might be a good way to get your foot in the door of a good company.
I know GIS people that have BS or MS degrees in GIS, or a minor (like I do), and I know lots of folks who just learned it on their own and worked their way up. Experience counts for a lot in the GIS field.
