In my office when you are hungry and about to head out for lunch to grab a bite to eat, ou have to announce where you are going just in case any other the other co-workers want anything from that place.

I have had certain female workers get a attitude with me because I just left and went out to buy my lunch and didn't tell anyone.

So is this the rule in anyone else office? Sometimes I don't feel like making an announcement to everyone so I can have 3 or 4 bags in my hand on he way back. And then there are some coworkers who will purposely wait fir that annoucement because they don't feel like going anywhere and is lazy.

It seems to be simple courtesy to let people know.. Perhaps your personality or background make you a bad fit in this work environment.

Sounds like a pain in the arse. Collect money, get everyone's order, give back change. I would be one of the people sneaking out.

I refuse to have anyone go out and get me something for lunch. I gave someone once money to buy me a large coffee(we don't have a coffee pot, vending machines-nothing). They were going to Dunkin Donuts. I gave them $3. The person kept my change. Lesson learned-won't do that again. I hate how they yell out-where are we doing lunch? I am hungry-this starts around 10:30 am and keeps up til the groups decide which menu to order off of from the faxes that day.

What happens when you don't announce? Besides some attitude getting thrown at you? Do your managers also follow this rule? If not then as long as you will not EVER ask anyone else to pick up lunch for you then I don't see the problem with opt'ing out of that lunch thing.

To answer your question, years ago I worked in a small office that had an unwritten rule like that. But it only applied when lunch was getting paid out of petty cash.

I use lunch hours to go to the bank or do some minor errands and just eat something quick on the run... usually from the hot dog / Shish kebab street vendor. No way am I going to do someone else's shopping on my time.

I can understand that but it's one fat girl who is very lazy who sits there and wait around for someone to get up so she can say-"Where are you going"

Never heard of this. Tell them you are going home to eat assuming you are not bringing food back.
