Hello everyone,

Back in October of last year(2010), I had 3 interviews for a job that I really wanted. A few days after my 2nd interview, they told me that they had decided to go with another candidate. After about a week, the hiring manager decides to call and tell me he wanted to consider me for another position. I went in for a third interview and it went well. The catch is that the position was not open yet, because he was still trying to get it in the budget. After waiting almost 2 months, he finally calls me right before Christmas to tell me they could not fit it into the budget.

Well, after all of that, I see the position posted online today. Should I reapply online, contact the hiring manager directly or don't bother? I am still really interested in working for this company. It's been a month and it's very possible that upper management decided to loosen the wallet a little.

Thanks in advance

I cerainly wouldn't go with option C (don't bother). You have nothing to lose and everything to gain by going for it. Personally I would probably contact the hiring manager directly.

I would contact them and still let them know that you are interested! What is the worst thing that can happen? They could turn you down again...but I think it would be worse if you didn't go for it again.

Good Luck! I hope everything works out this time around.

I sure would reapply then follow up with a call or an email and let them know I was still interested. What have you got to lose? The squeaky wheel gets the grease first so start squeaking.

I would and I would even mention in your cover letter 'I had the opportunity to meet with a respresentative of your company and was impressed with your operations and personnel.'

Call the hiring manager, don't send an email.

You already have an established connection with him so use that to your advantage.

Do this. If the hiring manager is not part of the decision making process this time around, kindly ask them if they can help you get in for interviews, etc.

I would go for it. I am now working for a company I wanted to work for. They had a position posted a year ago that I applied for, but they went with another candidate. When I saw recently that they had another position posted, I decided I had nothing to lose - and I got the job.

It's one of those "you'll never know until you try" situations.
