As applicants or employees are recommended for Educational Assistant positions with the District they are required to fulfill the highly qualified requirements for Paraprofessionals. Such requirement must be met before the check-in or transfer process begins. Such requirements are identified on the Arizona Highly Qualified Paraprofessional Attestation form and include: A secondary school diploma or GED

AND Two years of study or 60 credit hours at an accredited institution of higher education (100 level courses or higher) OR A passing score on an ADE-approved assessment: ParaPro, ACT WorkKeys, or Master Teacher’s Para Educator Learning Network.

Yes, secondary school diploma is a high school diploma. A GED is the equivalent, an exam taken by people who dropped out before finishing high school and want to return to finish.
