I graduate in December and I have been applying to several jobs, I have had 2 interviews that I felt really good about. Now, one of these jobs I really want but I was told that it could be several months before knowing if I get the job. The other job I interviewed for seems great but I don't like the area and I don't have my heart set on it like the other job. So here is the scenario: say I get an offer from the latter while still waiting to hear on the job that I really want. How would you handle this? Accept the job and let the employer know you may leave for another job after a couple months in which case they may not hire you? Or just turn down the offer and keep your fingers crossed? But in reality I think I would be pretty lucky to get an offer from either
brightdoglover - sounds like you would play it safe, I can understand that.
others - your responses sound like rhetorical questions so I guess I have no response!
I have a job right now but it doesn't even pay enough to cover rent. But I would probably have enough money coming in + savings to hold out until I heard back from the second employer. I am pretty passionate about this second job and I can't stand the idea of turning it down because of the long wait.

5.0 you're going way to far with this.
NEVER let an employer know you might leave if you get another offer.
You've had a whopping 2 interviews and you're already creating a game plan to quit a job you don't even have as a result of getting another job.......that you don't have.
Wow, worrying about it without an offer from either company sounds premature to me.
But I could be receiving an offer from the first company any day, in which case I will need to make a decision.
Ron. - I have had more than 2 interviews but there were 2 that were with organizations I would like to work for and that I think I have a pretty good chance with. I realize that letting the employer know I might leave would be detrimental to my offer but I can't feel good about taking the job w/o telling them I may not be around very long. Would others agree that that would be unethical and unfair to the employer?

Well I said I graduate in December! I have never had a professional job, so I am new to this, you're right. That is why I am on here asking for advice.
