I may be relocating to Medford, WI, can anyone give me any info. I would want to lease a home and also what about the high school?

Are winters bad, I have lived in snow, but curious about conditions and the other seasons.

Are there areas that are better to live and drive to Medford.

I don't know where you are coming from but I can't imagine why anyone would want to move to Medford.

There is an employment opportunity.

So I am wanting to know more about living in the area. I have visited and it is small but the high school has alot to offer . Restaurants, well that was interesting.

So how does anyone like living there.

I don't imagine most people in Medford even know of this forum so it's doubtful you'll be getting much input from the locals.

I don't know where you are moving from which would help in comparing what the winters are like and what you are used to. And weather changes from year to year. Medford is snack dab in the middle of nowhere. The closest town of any size is Wausau. I haven't been to Wausau in many years but I'm thinking it might be somewhat comparable to Eau Claire? Either way, there isn't going to be a whole lot to do socially. I guess if you are looking for a very quiet lifestyle, it may be a good fit for you.

I live in the Wausau area but was a FedEx driver in Medford and surrounding area for about 10 years so hit every street, alley, dirt roads, back roads, etc in area.
People in Medford were super. It seems the community leaders always had some activities going on.
City streets and main roads were well taken care of in winter. Back side roads took a little bit longer to be cleared.
I think K-Mart is still there. A Walmart was built about 3 years ago.
Being a rural type guy myself, I always preferred the Perkinstown area. That's a wooded area NW of Medford.
They have a great weekly newspaper - The Star News - you can check them out on-line.
Weathershield Windows, Hurd Millwork, Tombstone Pizza, Marathon Cheese, are a few of the big employers there.
Tombstone Pizza, by the way, was "invented" in Medford.
This coming Sunday, July 31, they are holding their annual car show in the city park. I'll be there with my '59 Plymouth Sport Fury .
I always liked Medford.

Thank you for the info and I visited it seemed like the town was small but there were some really nice homes in the surrounding area. Yes not having malls etc is a concern but from what I can fond out the drive to Wausau and other places are not that bad even in the winter. I flew into Wausau CWA.

Any other info or place to get information would be great. I have a teen age daughter that is a little concerned as she is dating so you can imagine she wants to know about boys. The high school had a lot of activities and seemed really good. I was surprised about the size and the graduating classes were 150+

Marshfield is closer to Wausau then Medford and would provide the basic shopping and dining essentials
