Can someone in the know direct me to the best/most economical place to take my family skiing/tubing/snow boarding etc?
I haven't been in probably 20+ years but am considering taking my family later this week. I'm an NC (Charlotte) native but just never did the winter sports thing but want to take the family. Any input is appreciated.
(Also, if this has already been asked, I apologize and request links to the proper threads.)
Hi Alpha, You can go on SkiNC.com for information about the different ski areas. Also, go on Ray'sWeatherCenter.com for latest and best info on area weather. It is going to be warmer this weekend but you can find out base snow amounts. Blowing Rock is having a Winterfest on the 28th-31st. Lots of fun things to do. Hope you come up and have fun.

Thanks Catbirds, I'll check those sites out later this evening. I really appreciate the info!
Appalachian Ski Mountain has a great family atmosphere. It's smaller than Sugar or Beech but for a family with no expert skiers, it may be more suitable. It's certainly more convenient to Charlotte (just off Hwy 321 between Blowing Rock and Boone), and close to Blowing Rock for the other activities mentioned above.
For an experienced skier, Sugar is the best, bar none.

Thanks! You may be right and no one (except me) has been skiing before. You guys have been a great help. If any others have suggestions or tips, I'm all ears!
