We are a family of four looking for a weekend getaway (at a hotel) in an adjacent town to Asheville, but not in Asheville. We've been to the big ones but we're looking for a more quaint experience with a cute town, restaurants and walkablity. Been doing some research and came across Weaverville and Black Mountain. Are both good places to stay with things to do? Thanks in advance!
You'll have more to do in Black Mountain, but the hotels are limited. I'd recommend a rental property - I always use Grey Beard Realty (just add the com for web site). They have property in-town, and near-by. Weaverville is "cute", certainly, but I'm not as familiar with the specifics there.
