where is the best place to live in Black Mountain as far as views weather etc I see there is a great variance in elevations there... I like a somewhat mild summer, but do not care about the rest of the seasons temps...
I am interested in a place which has some old style country charm with good views

Black Mt is actually a fairly small town and if you do a search for homes in Black Mt, you will get listings all over the place, down old #9 almost to Lake Lure. If you need to work in Asheville, I'd look somewhere along the "Asheville" side of Black Mt. It's a different town than when I grew up there 25 yrs ago, more swanky now, but so is Asheville. The good news is that it's a easy commute from BM to Asheville on I-40.

Good luck

I think, too, if you look at listings, you'll see what sorts of areas you'll wind up in. Now, my personal favorite is the housing area on the East side of the lake. To live on a lake would be so fine, I almost had a chance in Asheville, turned it down because liked where I was too much, but still daydream about it. Anywaaaay, Lake Tomahawk has some nice homes in a nice neighborhood that overlook the lake, and then behind that row are some more houses within walking distance to the lake, going up little winding roads, and then extending north are homes that are spread out a little more. I'd seriously consider checking out any homes on the East side of the lake in close proximity. You can also walk to town from there, which is a fun place to spend an afternoon.

Much of your shopping list will be determined by your price range. Black Mountain property tends to be a bit higher in the "average" price range. Check any Realtor's website and do a search with your criteria, and then transfer the addresses to a map. There are views everywhere in Black Mountain, whether or not you want a house with a view is going to make a difference in price. A big difference.
