I've done a lot of research over the last six months and have decided Buncombe County is the best fit for me if I move to the mountains. However, I am willing to commute to surrounding counties.
How are the commutes to the counties mentioned above? Are there any easy commutes I haven't mentioned? I have an offer from Macon County but that seemed a bit far... same with Transylvania.
I'm interested in travel times, traffic periods, any trouble spots, alternative routes, whatever you feel like sharing with me. I'm specifically worried about weather related issues. I'm used to a long commute but it was a coastal commute. My biggest issue were intense rainstorms/flooding.
I've never had to deal with snow/ice as a working adult (though I learned how to drive in it as a teen) and I don't own a 4 wheel drive. Is this something I'd realistically need to purchase for a move to the mountains?
