My family & I came to visit the Waynesville area around Thanksgiving of this year. We loved it so much they wanted to move there. At first I said no, but now the firm I am working for is not doing so well. Does any one have any advice about getting a Legal Assistant or Office assistant job in the Ashville or Waynesville area? My brother's family will also be relocating. He is a mechanic/tow truck driver.

Have you tried craigslist.org for job listings? I see quite a few for experienced legal/office assitant people there.

Smile waynesville

LUCKY!!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Waynesville!
I would move there if I could...so instead I'll just visit.

From experience, I would say just surf the net and apply through all of the job forums and check out their local paper. Also, the biggest suggestion I would have is to go online and search for companies in that area that might need someone like you, and approach them directly via email or phone calls. If they say they have no openings, then ask if tehy know anyone who might. Just be super nice and polite and something will come up. The other option is to temp until you are offered a FT job - these are all ways I've found jobs in the past.

Go through all the Asheville/western North Carolina boards and you will find many postings about the economy and job market in the area. It's probably a good idea to heed those who say you should have a job lined up before you move there. The other cautionary note I'd put forth is that housing in Waynesville's not exactly cheap (though the prices still are well below what we have here in South Florida). If you can clear those hurdles ... well, Waynesville is heavenly!
