Despite Obama taking the NC primary rather comfortably, he only won TWO WNC counties: Buncombe and Watauga.

Buncombe results:
Obama- 27899 votes, 54.7%
Clinton- 22290 votes, 43.7%
Other- 854 votes, 1.6%

Watauga Results:
Obama- 4570 votes, 55%
Clinton- 3645 votes, 44%

Clinton won over 70% of the vote in several counties (McDowell, Swain, Graham, Cherokee, Clay, Ashe), and close to 70% in several others (Burke, Yancey, Haywood)

I have never figured out why she does so well with blue collar, rural, and less educated democrats.

Neither Clinton or Obama have a prayer with Western NC voters in November, in my opinion.

Totally agree. I doubt we'll see a single presidential campaign dollar spent here, or a single candidate visit.

To continue an overused line on CNN, North Carolina will not be "in play." LOL
