My husband and 2 small children are thinking about relocating. The job market in Ohio is horrible. We have been looking at Asheville, is the job market growing, and is it a nice place to raise a family.

Do some reading back on the older posts, you will find quite a lot of info on Asheville's job situation. Basically, what you need to know is that most jobs are service industry related and the pay not great. The one segment growing and providing good jobs is the medical field, thanks to all the retirees who have and are relocating there all the time. Asheville is a very nice place, but housing can be expensive so do your homework!

Default County Business Profiles

Conventional job opportunities in the Asheville Area (Buncombe-Henderson-Haywood-Madison counties) are limited. The area is a vacation/retirement destination and local business cater to tourism and retirees. Health service related businesses seem to do well due to the older population.
