My husband and I have lived in Asheville for the past 10 years, and now will be renting in Brevard for a few months. I'm embarrassed to say that my knowledge of Brevard is completely limited to the surrounding forests. Can anyone recommend businesses that would be enjoyable for a couple of youngish hippy types? Restaurants, shops, bars, grocers, etc? We will be on the far side of Brevard where the road begins climbing the mountain towards Toxaway.

You can visit this website: http://www.brevardrated.com, there is a listing of all the restaurants, grocers, hotels and they are working on activities and shops now. For the hippy type, you gotta visit Local Color on S Broad Street. I hope you fall in love with Brevard like me and my hubby did. Great place to live.
BTW, this weekend (Sat only) is Halloweenfest. Starts at 10 in downtown, can't miss it.
Check out the new brevard brewery next to misinformed gellato on main. Also Jordan street restaurant/bar. I hear the new phoenix bar is hopping on Monday nights.
"Misinformed Gelato"?? LOL! Was that a spell-correct? Because I'm hoping it's a real name.
