Can anyone recommend a good cabin rental company for 4-6 people near GSMNP, preferably on or near a lake? I've come across dozens of companies, but there are so many options and I'd like some input from people who have experienced them or can at least recommend the best area to stay in. Our intention is to camp in the Smokies, though we'd like to rent a cabin because we have a small group of adults and one young baby. The closest to swimming, canoeing and horseback riding we can get is preferred!

Google Sunset Cottages. We have stayed in cabins through them and cabin was great.

Thanks for the tip, but after many days researching reasonable accommodations, we've come to realize we have no interest in the luxurious cabins that seem to be the standard. We don't feel like getting away to the mountains only to sit inside with 200 TV channels! ISO a simple, rustic experience, priced at less than $90/nt.

You may also want to post in the Knoxville, TN area for some areas about an hour west (but still in the smokies).

You want to rent a cabin for 4-6 people for less than $90. Not likely but you can rent one that holds that many people for around $150 and divided by that many in the group, you have very reasonable lodging.

Google Nantahala Village, all prices, also, VRBO.com Smokies. My family stayed at a little cabin at the Village, it is near the river. The area is breathtaking, and we had one of the best family vacations ever. There is also the Fontana Dam Village that used to have cottages there as well. It has been a long time since I have been there, but the area is worth the exploring. Have a wonderful trip.

Fontana Village is still there and looks nice. Accommodations range from tent sites to small cabins to large cabins to condos. Fontana Village has a swimming pool with a lazy river, sand volleyball courts, nature trails, a few restaurants, a gift shop and other features. I didn't stay there but we drove through it to see what it was like. It isn't overly rustic but looked to be a good place for family groups like reunions or more than one family traveling together. There were some places in the general area for horseback riding as well.

I recently rented a cabin from Great Smokys Cabin Rentals and was happy with it. The company has many different types of cabins and houses to rent and my interaction with them was positive.

Thanks everyone! We did find a simple, nice-looking cabin on vrbo.com. Two days til we leave; we're so excited!
