You would have been dead before they finished it...here's why:
Remember that follow the 'Money rule? All road efforts in West Virginia in the past 5 years have 'followed the 'Money...
1. Charles Town Racetrack and Casino access was a 'Top Priority.
2. Federal funds to Corridor H...which has been stopped because of bridge funding withdrawls (much of
the highway from Moorefield to Republican Petersburg is 'Skyway..built on piers, above the flood
plain. (I think a Law Suit could get this road completed...)
Mon-Fayette has been a foot dragger here since Day-0ne...
It's about that little $0.75 Toll Booth on the Pennsi side.
Our crooks can't get their hands on that Pennsylvania money and they know that installing a toll for 1 mile might look a little screwy...
Well, thank-you Pennsylvannia, for opening the door to our northern neighbor, Pittsburgh...you paid the dollars for matching federal dollars to get to us and we will certainly shop at your market...
Will be paid for with Obama Dollars...not anything from Wv.

That went up to 90 cents last spring. What a gyp.
But I won't miss 857 at all.
This may not be the most needed road in WV, but jeez, its only 4 miles of road. Well I guess there will be an interchange, that is what will be expensive. And for the next year a mess.
And I think it may facilitate commerce and interaction between the Morgantown/Fairmont region and the Uniontown/Greensburg region (via 119, of course).
I'm gonna miss that car with the sign coming up through the hood... maybe they could move that where we could at least see it from the Expressway.
All PA Turnpike tolls went up last January, and are on a regular schedule to do so in the future. That is how to keep Kookamus happy, with regular maintenance. And 90c from Uniontown to Cheat Lake isn't that bad a deal, considering the alternatives.
Does anybody have any info on the location of the new onramps/offramps? I used to work at Cranberry Square (behind the Burger King) and there were always rumors that they'd be closing the ramps next to BK once the expressway was opened.

adam36,
A visual of the interchanges with Cheat Lake and Interstate 68 can be found here:
It seems that they are going to close existing exit 10 from I-68 and reconfigure it into the massive interchange pictured in the link. Traffic bound for Cheat Lake will have to exit I-68 onto the new expressway. Once on the new expressway, they will have to exit again at the local interchange pictured north of the I-68 connection. Traffic bound to Pennsylvania will continue north.
Overall, it'll help the Cheat Lake region economically, especially with improved access from Pennsylvania. However, it will probably hurt business at Cranberry Square as it will not be close to the new Cheat Lake interchange; direct access to I-68 will no longer be possible from that location.

I'm glad when that road will be complete. It would be great to further open up Morgantown with southwestern PA/Uniontown area. I also think the interstate exit sign should change from Fairchance Rd. to Uniontown PA once completed.
