Hi everyone,

My husband and I are moving to Boca Raton in a few weeks and are looking to rent a condo or townhouse for about 7 months while we slowly look for a house (my husband is already down there). We both work in Boca Raton. He has looked at renting a remodeled condo unit in the Bocar Condo Development. I know it is is gated, which I like, and he thought it was a nice, safe area, but does anyone know anything about this community? My biggest concern is that it is relatively safe. If anyone has any horror stories please let me know. Or any other suggestions for a 3 or 2 bedroom condo/townhouse we can rent for between $1200 and $1600 in a good area? Thank you!!

"Bocara" was formerly a rental community ("St. James") that attempted condo conversion but couldn't sell units due to exorbitant prices in a declining market. I don't know how many units were actually remodeled and I don't know how many sold. Ceebraid Signal who bought the property for conversion has had financial and ethical problems that may have affected the project. I do know it is a nice place. I rented there before the conversion and moved only because I couldn't afford the 300,000 price tag they put on my apartment. The Clint Moore Road area is lovely and is often referred to as "millionaires' row." The units were built in 1991, so they looked pretty good even before the conversion. The property was "gated" then but not "guarded" like it is now. We never had a problem with safety or noise. I lived on the second floor, which is preferable - higher ceilings and no neighbors above. Good luck!

That helps alot. I probably wouldn't buy the unit but for a temporary rent situation I think it sounds good. My main concern is safety anyway. Thanks!!!

Look next door to your neighbor...the 17th safest city in the entire United States...Coral Springs. I would look into Turtle Run luxury apartments...very nice area, nice units and good prices !
