My neighbors who moved from California complain there is no authentic Mexican food around.

They considered Aleydas to be an in-authentic replica. Then again, they're the types that EVERYTHING is better in California than here. Except apparently, the jobs, because here they are.

I enjoy Cantina Laredo over Rocco's, which is more flash than food. There's a new place opening up off Olive in downtown, "Moe's Cantina" (not to be confused with Moe's the fast food place). We'll see how they stack up.

Best to get it off a taco truck, I suppose.

Thread is way off topic...

Aleyda's was the best place in PB County in my opinion, she started out as a lunch truck and moved to a fixed location. It's a real loss to the area that she was pushed out and decided to not reopen someplace else... I have been to several Mexican and Tex Mex places in both Texas and California and Aleyda's food was quite close to what I had in both locations, it was better than a few places I ate at in Texas, also the decor and ambiance was quite authentic, they played Mexican Music and had Mariachi occasionally.

I tried Rosalita's at Lantana and Congress a few times, nothing great either..but people love it.

Catina Laredo and a few other places I have been to here were playing Salsa Music and the food is bland in comparison. Catina Laredo tends to be more fusion oriented and aimed at the mass market.

I use to go to a place use in Delray, the owners were Mexican....moved here from California, food wasn't bad but nothing great and they went out of business. They attempted a move into a brick and mortar location and it did not work out.

I love Roccos food is always fresh and the Mole Poblano is the best I found in South Florida, not a big fan of their rice much preferred Aleyda's.

Despite the lack of love for it on here, the one on Clematis got great reviews on Open Table and Yelp...then again whenever I hear someone giving Rocco's a negative opinion, I ask them what they consider good food...and immediately the rationale is understood, typically people who think Chipotle and Moe's is better...which is laughable at best. People who would not know the difference between canned refried beans vs made from scratch...
