Sure it's higher in the affluent areas but overall the average wage for the county is $20/hour or around $40K/year, data is a little outdated, but salaries increases have been very flat the past few years.

I agree, but those numbers are also specious. No one who plans on moving to South FL should look at those numbers and conclude that a $40k salary will get you much here.

$40K won't get you much unless your willing to budget.. Keep in mind that's $40K gross.....take home well after the tax man that doesn't leave much left over if you like to buy stuff.... keeping in mind there will be no Social Security funds for 20 somethings when they retire. Credit card debt per person is climbing every year, I do not see the light at the end of the tunnel.....living on plastic is not the solution it's a false sense of financial freedom that is the pretentious norm in South Florida.
