I need some help....we will be moving in a year or so and I need to find a performing arts high school and a private elementary school close to each other and in a very nice neighbourhood. Housing cost is no object. Can anyone guide me in the right direction? I would so appreciate it!

Dreyfoos is a very highly rated performing arts school. There is a Palm Beach County section you may want to check out for better input.
Plenty of very nice neighborhoods in Boca depending on what you are looking for.

Yep, Dreyfoos School of the Arts is a public performing arts high school. Good luck getting your kids into it though.

I would think you need to have a better specific date than " a year or so"
Your search is premature... normally when I see posts like this, they never pan out.

Thanks for the info. We definitely will be moving, my husband is already there half the time working out of Boca. We just committed to staying here for our daughter in Grade 7, that we would live her until she finished Grade 8. She would be going to the performing arts school here so she will be leaving all of her friends anyway. Is Dreyfoos not admission via audition process?

I have no idea, call them up and you'll find out. When I was growing up in PBC it was considered hard to get into and very prestigious but I have no idea what their admissions process is.

Default Irish Dad, New York Mom, 8 year old relocating/Boca Raton?

Yes, another family moving. But, we would appreciate any information.

We are moving because my husband has great job in Sales down in Pompano Beach. We have lived in New York, Boston and have traveled a lot because family is in NY and Europe. .

So, now we are entering Florida. We have spent some time in Miami, so know about weather ect..

I have a child beginning 3rd grade next September. I have heard great things about Boca Raton education. My child loves the performing arts (have heard about Dreyfoos school of arts), so any things linked to that would be great. My eight year also loves horseback riding. I am a artist and would love to be around anything connected to the arts.

Should we live in Boca? Is Wellington just as good, or other areas? Help! Education means a lot (as with most parents). And yes, as most people we love an area we can walk around, enjoy good food (foodies who like organic farm stands), restaurants, fun things for kids...and some good cinemas..

Thanks!! Much appreciated..

Good luck on your move! I would suggest that Boca has some very good schools. For lifestyle, since you are used to NY and Europe and Boston, you might find Wellington a little bit more provincial. However, it is gorgeous and would feel like living in the country!

As for organic food stands, there is an organic market every Sunday at Josh's Farmer's Market in Hollywood, FL. That is south so if you lived in Boca, it would be much closer. There is also one nearer to Miami on Saturdays in Coconut Grove.

I'm sorry I cannot help more with the schooling aspect. Dreyfoos does have an excellent reputation and I heard that admissions/auditions are best completed by December for the following year. So if you know you are moving this year, I would contact them now to inquire about their late audition/admission process.

Art wise - there are lots of art festivals in Delray Beach and West Palm Beach.

I hope that helps.
