Personally, I hope the warmer winter prediction is the correct one.

I wouldn't put much faith in that. It is almost impossible to predict weather that far out in advance with any accuracy. At most you can try to spot a relationship with El Nino/La Nina events and develop a model based on that. It does not look like the Almanac is doing that, though, since their prediction contradicts NOAA's.

It better be a warm Winter, I want 70's (that does happen here), I hope Winter never gets a chance to settle in due to excessive warm fronts, then it will be Spring which will mean no more cold at all .

But seriously, I always go with the opposite of most long-range forecast, of course if its a warm forecast one I will embrace it lol.

I live in the warmest part of NYC, whenever its supposed to snow we usually get rain (we do get heavy snow occasionally too), the Atlantic Ocean warms our air up a bit.

I'm going with the warmer prediction, too! Since I moved to NE Wisconsin, the last 2 winters have been colder and snowier than usual, so I want to see a "normal" winter!!!

i was in seattle for 4 months in the winter 1982, they had the worst weather there in 40 years. that year it rained with sludgy dirty snow and hurricane force winds for two solid weeks. and the rest of the time it was just wet sludgy miserable conditions. wen't to mount baker, snow was over 6 feet deep.. so yes i do know what cold is you can have it
