This is some serious heat. From north to south, all I'm seeing on the weather app are highs in the upper 90s to 100 degree range all week for so many places, with overnight lows failing to fall much below 75. Dallas and New Orleans and Charlotte, much of the wider south, Arkansas, the Plains, the Great Lakes, they all look wack.

Of course, from Phoenix: highs maxing out at 113 for the week with an overnight low of 88 degrees. Yuck.

Will this elicit more posting from Ed? I wonder what he's up to. Would love to hear how subpolar and inferior to Europe America's not at all subtropical climate is.

Can we get some nice heat in the NE please? My kids would love to go to the pool and beach and believe it or not, it's not warm enough. What a crappy 2022 weather-wise (well, not only weather related but that's for another forum to discuss).

We broke the record high minimum temp this morning as we dropped down just very briefly to 78F. The old record was 76. We're certain to shatter today's record high as well with a forecast high of 98. The record is 94. This looks to be the hottest day in 10 years here with heat index values in the 107-113 degree range this afternoon.

To make matters worse, nasty storms hit northern Indiana, leaving tens of thousands without power and it will be just as hot their today. Fort Wayne recorded a wind gust of 98mph! That shattered the record for the strongest wind gust ever recorded there.

East Coast seems stuck in unsteady late spring mode. That's not necessarily the worst thing here in the southern Mid-Atlantic where even 'below average' in June is still plenty warm, but I can see how in places like Upstate NY or New England the many cooler days might be getting tedious.
