The lower RGV/SPI area of Texas is very close to Koppen's tropical (aw) when looking in terms of climate data. Wintry cold snaps are indeed a killer pertaining to the overall ecology, though.
Gasoline rationing is now in effect here and in Vancouver because of supply chain disruptions caused by the flooding. The rationing is supposed to be in place until December 1 but if this forecast holds then it could easily be extended.
