I was just about to post that. Wow. wife and kids are going back to Phoenix in a month. Hopefully they'll have good weather. If our sh1thead governor shuts down Illinois again which he is now considering Im getting the hell out of here and going to Arizona.

Boring pattern here for 7 days so I look elsewhere for interesting weather.... PacNW!

Current temps at 10,000' with Upper heights. Trough/Upper Low digging south in the NorthWest.

That moisture you see on the map is falling with temps below freezing at this level. So its snowing in those areas above 7000' at least.

I assume its cloudy under that Upper low so lows are above normal but the daytime should be cooler than normal. I haven't checked, just assuming

That upper low is going to push down to Southern California then swing northeast towards central U.S and into Canada.

Well, with clouds hanging around all day yesterday we came up just short of hitting 70F topping off at 69F. Today through Tuesday should see a string of days getting well into the 70s, flirting with record highs on Sunday and Monday.

I call it like I see it, a blowtorch, odd jet stream pattern partly due to extreme SST anomalies in parts of the Pacific. The "cooling" temperatures by mid next week will only result in at or above average temperatures. Throw in the La Nina effects coming into play now, and I have a suspicion that most of the cold air outbreaks this winter will only occur when the PNA is consistently in positive territory.
