Will the Greens form a national government now? Sounds like Finland will be a third world country in four years if they're gonna lead it

We will know to get the results after midnight, so maybe we are already a 3rd world country? Some 39% of the votes in Helsinki has been counted.

That's disgraceful. We always know at 9:40 or thereabouts in Sweden (and we're a larger country) For election drama I kind of wish we had First Past the Post though, that's better viewing!

This is surprisingly sticky though. The booths closed 2 hours ago and only 48% in Turku have been counted. Keep in mind that in Finland people vote in advance a lot compared on an European scale, which makes the situation even worse.

Now some 75% of the votes have been counted so you can say what the final positions are nationally:

Coalition: 20.6%
Social Democrats: 19.4%
Centre: 17.5%
Greens: 12.8% (best result ever)
Left Alliance: 8.9% (first win for a long time)
True Finns: 8.6% (terrible loss)
Swedish: 4.9%
Christian Democrats: 4.1%
Independents: 3.2%

In Helsinki the Coalition are taking a landslide victory, in Turku the Greens are taking a historical victory. In Jyväskylä (an university city) the Greens are doubling their share and becoming the largest party by far, first major city to do so.

None the less, it's an effective warning of what may be to come if Assad contemplates crossing the red line again.
