5 Absolutely beautiful days in a row here. Wow this feels awesome for late May. 40s low 60s & 70s max, some clouds, some blue, breeze and thank the heavens DRY dewpoints (30s/40s). PERFECT!

Picking & choosing some stuff from NWS NY

NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE NEW YORK NY

Quote:
  • THE RIDGING WILL PROMOTE SUBSIDENCE...KEEPING MOSTLY SUNNY CONDITIONS.
  • THE SEA BREEZE WILL BE MORE LIMITED DUE TO STRONGER SW BOUNDARY LAYER FLOW.
  • THE 850 MB TEMPS HAVE ALREADY BEEN INCREASING
  • FOR THE ATLANTIC OCEAN BEACHES...THERE IS A MODERATE RISK FOR RIP CURRENTS.
MONDAY NIGHT THROUGH SATURDAY

  • A SOUTHWESTERLY FLOW KEEPING A WARM AND HUMID AIR MASS IN PLACE.
  • THE AIR MASS SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS WILL BE DIURNALLY DRIVEN WITH BUILD UP OF CAPE AND THEREFORE INSTABILITY.
  • WITH DEW POINTS RISING AND A SOUTH TO SOUTHWEST FLOW THERE WILL BE THE INCREASING LIKELIHOOD OF STRATUS AND FOG DEVELOPING AT NIGHT INTO EARLY MORNING MID TO LATE IN THE WEEK.
  • MAY BE MORE OF A STRATUS DECK ACROSS LONG ISLAND AND POSSIBLY COASTAL CONNECTICUT WITH THE FLOW MORE SOUTHWESTERLY THAN SOUTH

Crazy. Keep us posted. Is it a continuous deluge or just scattered downpours?

Looks like central U.S getting wet under the Ridge axis with Gulf interaction, while the East is staying dry under surface Highs and inside the ridge.. A Pattern recipe for above normal & dry weeks & months. We already seen it this month.

Let it all out now I guess. I don't want this pattern in winter! This pattern would be blizzards for central US Texas to Western Great Lakes areas

So perhaps I'm in position to get the best of both?

Beautiful sunny 80F right now and dewpoint only 52º...wind is S but not from the Gulf yet. Gusting over 20mph, too.

Definetly. As it shifts back and forth over time you'll be cool & wet or you'll be warm & dry like today then naturally warm & humid.

. I have to figure out what would trigger this pattern to change. We need that polar vortex back! Lol

I got about 3.5 inches last Monday over a couple of hours and then about an inch last Thursday.

So far today, I had two short downpours but a stronger line looks like it is coming. Tornado watch just issued.

Driest May on record was 2008 and that was 0.50"! So far only .04". Wow.

Another way to prove how dry its been

Only 16 out of 1,344 months on record had less than 1/2" total of precip for the month.
