Many parts of the south east coast of Spain have been very warm today.
Sagunto and Elche : 30,4°C
Alicante: 29,4°C
Murcia: 29,3°C
Valencia: 29,2°C
El Tiempo. Datos - Resumen lunes 02 - Mapa - Agencia Estatal de Meteorología - AEMET. Gobierno de España
So the 30°C/86°F barrier has been broken very early this year in Europe.

Elche is 38°16' N
Sagunto is 39°40'N (!)

Official rainfall at the NWS station for the 24 hours ending 7am March 1st came out to be 10.08 inches. That destroys the old record for daily max rainfall of 7.87 inches set Nov 20, 2009. Record max rainfall for month of March of 9.77 inches was also broken with just one day's worth of rain.

Very impressive. I'd love those temperatures right now.

some trees due to the warm first half of February had started budding back in mid February. today I was outside I saw lots of new flowers coming up but they where the type we see around January but still flowers! normally the first trees start blooming around the first week of march and I expect the first trees to bloom this weekend. also many pine trees started dropping tons of pinecones during the first half of February. so hard to believe that by the beginning of April almost all the trees will be fully leafed and the big pollen explosion we have each year will start.
