Dew points above freezing. Was puzzled at seeing fog driving when the temperatures were in the low 40s. Saw this weird crud on my windshield, couldn't be frost it was too warm. Dirt? No. Rain! Was rain very lightly at first that's why I didn't pick up on it.
Snowpack is almost depleted here. I had 17 inches last Friday, then 16 on Saturday, then 13 on Sunday, then 9 yesterday, and down to 6 today (These are my own numbers though; I literally just stick a ruler in the ground ). Even lower numbers at the official station: Islip had 13 inches last Friday and down to 4 today.

Good. I'm not ready for spring yet. In fact I could use another 3 months of winter. I wish we could just fast-forward to Dec.
Yup like I said this pattern is here for months, maybe years until that Pacific ocean water gets colder off of the northwest coast. Not likely to happen anytime soon.
Could that be the final warming that breaks down the vortex until next Fall?
Found this video by Steve D from NYNJPA Weather. Excellent to watch from start. Talks about the Stratosphere Warming, how it affects the weather pattern and the Polar Vortex.
Basically I showed in my post here that the cold air is all bottled up in Canada. This sudden Stratosphere warming will split the vortex up and guess where a piece of it might go? Down to Southern Canada/U.S and we get the very cold air again.
Check out the AO forecast? A sign that the stratosphere warming is taking affect. It's about to take a dive. Arctic Air about to head back south.
Good video. And I'm afraid he might be right. I should have listened to Joe Bastardi in the first place and not have gotten my hopes up for a mild March

Why is ORD consistently one of the cooler spots in Chicagoland?
