Here are two different Januaries (sorry, cold and snow lovers, neither one has snow but pick the lesser of the two evils). Rate each January separately, then choose the one you like better. Try to guess the location(s) of each January.

January A-95 percent of possible sunshine with large diurnal ranges with mostly warm days and crisp nights (occasional ground frost but no subfreezing temperatures). Only a trace of rainfall in once during the entire month.
Highest temperature: 80. Lowest temperature: 33

January 3- 66/37 sunny
January 4- 69/42 mostly sunny

January 6- 62/33- partly cloudy in the morning clearing in the evening

January 8- 68/42- sunny
January 8- 65/44- sunny
January 9- 68/40- sunny
January 10- 64/46- increasing clouds
January 11- 59/50- mostly cloudy- a trace of rain
January 12- 63/42- cloudy early, clearing late
January 13- 68/44- sunny
January 14- 71/43- sunny

January 31- 78/45- sunny

January B: Only about 30 percent of possible sunshine with much less diurnal ranges. More than half of days have some rainfall; most of it light but occasionally heavy. One strong cold front brings subfreezing nights and chilly days for a couple of days (under clear skies after the front has past). Occasional sunny and mild days mixed in but way more clouds than sun. Highest temperature: 64. Lowest temperature: 28

A. The high temperatures are just about perfect, but too much diurnal range.

Both Januaries are an EPIC FAIL. Here is an Example of a January thats beautiful :

Intellicast - Massena Past Observations Summary in New York (13662)

Given a Choice I would go with Location B.

My guess is that the A is Likely Pasadena, CA and B is Austin, TX.

I pick B. I could see A being Las Vegas or someplace out west. B is a bit tougher... could be Charleston, SC. Maybe not what you had in mind, but it could fit. The place has been on my mind since I was there a few weeks ago.

Actually, believe it or not both A and B are from the same location; one is much drier than normal and the other is wetter than normal for the norms. NOW try to guess.....

January 2012 Vs. January 2013 in Dallas makes the most sense to me.

There are several possible answers to this if you look at weather history.

Sacramento, CA is my next choice. Diurnal ranges there are usually large in winter.
